Doctoral studies start from June 2012

First of all, please read the doctoral regulations of 15.11.2016 carefully.

1. Admission to doctoral study
Before starting to work on the dissertation (i.e. as soon as you have received a confirmation of supervision), each doctoral candidate must submit an application for admission to doctoral studies to the Dean's Office of the Faculty. We have compiled the following documents to help you with this:

- List of documents to be submitted (To-Do list)
- Application for admission
- Supervision agreement
- Proposal for doctoral studies (doctoral study plan)
- Declaration of doctoral attempts
- Recognition of the rules for ensuring good scientific practice and procedure in cases of suspected scientific misconduct.

2. Enrolment
According to § 9 Abs. 2 Satz 4 NHG (Niedersächsisches Hochschulgesetz) doctoral candidates have to enrol as doctoral students. Enrolment takes place at the Study Centre (Student Office).

Information on the semester fee can be found at:
http://www.studienzentrum.tu-clausthal.de/das-studienzentrum/studentensekretariat/semesterbeitrag/.

3. The application to initiate the doctoral procedure
In due course (after completion of the dissertation), in consultation with the supervisor, the dissertation must be submitted to the faculty, together with further documents to be taken from the list. The following documents will help you:

- List of documents to be submitted (To-Do list)
- Opening application
- Affidavit (see also "Rules for ensuring good scientific practice and procedures in cases of suspected scientific misconduct")
- Statistical sheet

Here you can view a sample of the title page of a dissertation.

The Faculty Council decides on the opening of the doctoral procedure at the next meeting (meeting dates) or by circulation.

4. Publication of the dissertation (after the oral examination)
Before the publication, which has to be done within one year (deadline starts with the day of the oral examination), you first have to apply for the printing permission.
This must be completed and signed by you and countersigned by your supervisor. The application must be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty in order to obtain the necessary permission for final publication from the Dean.

- Application for permission to print (form)
- Instructions for electronic publication
(§ 12 Abs. 2 a Promotionsordnung vom 15.11.2016)
- Instructions for publication as a book in a publishing house
(§ 12 Abs. 2 c Promotionsordnung vom 15.11.2016)
