BMBF Projects

Technician2Bachelor

A primary goal of the project is to counteract the lack of qualified engineers in the STEM field and to attract educationally advanced students and students with an immigrant background to university education. The project is intended to demonstrate a two-way permeability between university and vocational education. Within the framework of a cooperation between the Clausthal University of Technology and the Technical Academy of the City of Braunschweig, a lump-sum crediting of vocationally acquired competencies towards university studies is to lead to a significant shortening of the bachelor's degree for graduates of the Technical Academy. An extension to other subject areas and courses of study, e.g. energy technologies and computer science, is planned. In addition, however, this project is also intended to demonstrate career prospects for dropouts in STEM fields of study. With the recognition of competencies acquired during studies for the technician training, new paths of permeability would be taken.
