Doctoral candidates accepted in accordance with the doctoral degree regulations of 05.06.2012 are automatically transferred to the doctoral degree regulations of 15.11.2016.

1. Admission to doctoral studies
Before starting work on the dissertation (i.e. as soon as you have received confirmation of supervision), each doctoral candidate must submit an application for admission to doctoral studies to the Dean's Office of the Faculty. We have compiled the following documents to help you with this:

2. Enrollment
According to § 9 para. 2 sentence 4 NHG (Lower Saxony Higher Education Act), doctoral candidates should enrol as doctoral students.
To enrol, please contact the Study Center(Student Secretariat) in the main building of Clausthal University of Technology.
Doctoral candidates should apply in the same way as other prospective students via the TU Clausthal study portal.
The deadlines for enrolment for a winter semester are 15 October, for enrolment for a summer semester 15 April of each year.

3. The application for the opening of the doctoral procedure
In due course (after completion of the dissertation), the dissertation must be submitted to the faculty in consultation with the supervisor, together with further documents to be taken from the list. The following documents will help you:

The Faculty Council decides on the opening of the doctoral procedure at the next meeting or by circulation procedure.
4. The publication of the dissertation (after the oral examination)
Before the publication, which must take place within one year (the period begins on the day of the oral examination), you must first apply for permission to print. This must be completed and signed by you and countersigned by your supervisor. The application must be submitted to the Dean's Office of the Faculty in order to obtain the necessary permission for final publication from the Dean.
